Kārearea

Falcon Group

Our Kārearea Group is designed for tamariki aged four to five, a season marked by growing independence, curiosity, and confidence. In this more structured morning session, children are invited to contribute their thoughts, explore new ideas, and strengthen the skills that prepare them for school and beyond.

With guidance from caring teachers and encouragement from their peers, tamariki continue to grow in faith, communication, and self-awareness – learning to lead, listen, and love well.

Key Areas of Growth

Our children, aged four to five years, gather together each morning. This is a more structured time. The teacher will still lead, but children will have the opportunity to contribute their ideas and knowledge.

The learning and skills that will be developed and fostered during this time include:

  • Listening to others
  • Being a leader
  • Numeracy and literacy concepts
  • Respect for others’ ideas
  • Turn-taking
  • Expanding language and tools for communication
  • Increased body awareness / control

Faith, Friendship, and Growth

Growing in Confidence and Capability
While the teacher continues to guide the session, children are increasingly invited to share their ideas, ask questions, and offer their knowledge. This group provides a space where tamariki can explore more complex concepts, build friendships, and strengthen the skills that will support them as they approach school.

Through interactive discussions, stories, games, and activities, children are supported in developing:

  • Listening to others with patience and empathy
  • Leadership skills by taking initiative and helping peers
  • Numeracy and literacy concepts through songs, storytelling, and guided learning
  • Respect for others’ ideas and the ability to respond thoughtfully
  • Turn-taking and working cooperatively in group settings
  • Expanded language and communication tools to express thoughts clearly
  • Increased body awareness and control through movement and purposeful activity

The Kārearea Group helps tamariki grow in confidence, capability, and care for others—all while continuing to experience God’s love in their everyday learning.
